Anyone else have problems with the SE version w or w/o the 32meg
flash card? The patches to 1.06 work pretty well. But if I upload a
CD there are usually a couple of songs that cut off and have lots of
blank space in them. I looked at the FAT table and directory and
that all looks good. It looks like there is some issue with either: 1
The writes are failing, or timing out or somehitng, or 2 the bad
block computation is not working...I noticed in the check for bad
blocks code, that if a read or write of a block fails, then the whole
bad block list check also fails...would it be better to just mark
that block as bad? I'm a little skeptical that 2 is really a problem
since I don't think it is that likely that I have any bad blocks on a
new device, flash ram just doesn't usually have problems like that.
And even if it did it wouldn't cause the problems I'm seeing with
minutes of cutoff in songs. I think it must be some kind of timing
issue. So has anyone fixed this yet? I know 1.07 is due out soon.

And in case you care, running debian 2.1 on a dual processor with 2
PII 350s, the rio is a RIO SE with 32meg flash card. Firmware
edition: 1.2257 (Is anyone working at hacking the firmware yet?)
