Dear colleagues, I am happy to share that the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) has published the second version of the draft "Governance Document for the Recognition, Operation, and Derecognition of Regional Internet Registries" to update ICP-2: https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/rir-governance-document-version-2/ As a part of the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) system, the RIPE community is invited to contribute to the second global consultation on the revision of ICP-2. ICP-2 documents the criteria for the establishment of new Regional Internet Registries. We invite you to share your feedback on this document via the RIPE Discussion list until Friday, 7 November 2025. The feedback that is received will be discussed by the NRO NC during their workshop taking place over 12-14 November 2025. We have carefully considered input from the various RIR communities as well as from the ICANN Public Comment process in order to revise the document. In the coming days, we will also share a redline version showing the differences between the two versions and a high-level overview explaining the main changes made. We ask you to please keep the following in mind while preparing your comments: - Please share feedback that is specific to this document. - We are particularly interested in hearing your views on whether this draft addresses questions and concerns with the previous draft. - This document does not address the implementation of the RIR governance framework; comments on implementation will be considered out of scope. - Constructive comments are highly appreciated. ----------------------- Join a Session ----------------------- We invite the RIPE community to join us for the following sessions: - RIPE NCC Open House: Second Consultation on Updating ICP-2 Wednesday, 17 September at 13:00 CEST (11:00 UTC) This session will take place online and the RIPE community representatives of the NRO NC will provide an overview of the second version of the draft RIR Governance Document. https://www.ripe.net/meetings/open-house/ripe-ncc-open-house-second-consultation-on-updating-icp-2/ - BoF at RIPE 91 We will hold a BoF at RIPE 91 to hear the community's input on the second draft of the RIR Governance Document.
