Well, I got quick and complete answers to my questions on the TelCanto Yahoo group (the company itself seems to monitor the group) so as promised here are the answers...
Telcanto will scale the cover art images itself to fit the appropriate available display area on the PDA screen. The sizes of the display area for cover art on the PDA (240 x 320 pixel screen) in different TelCanto modes are: - On Playing screen: 160x160 - On Info screen: 240x240 - On Library/Browse Album screen: 64x64 So I think that's my problem solved.
