does anybody know of a tool that converts aac to mp3. That is easy
enough but i want something that i can set an input directory and it
goes down the tree and converts everything and then spits it out to
destination dir keeping the destination directory tree same as input.

I have a lot of AACs i need to convert to mp3 and every tool have seen
you have to go into each directory and select what you want to
convert.

Sounds like you need aac2mp3. Unfortunately, I've not written it yet :)

If you've any experience with perl you may be able to hack my flac2mp3 tool to do the job. Otherwise, add an enhancement request (ticket) at http://projects.robinbowes.com/flac2mp3
