That's my thinking. iTunes has a dynamic playlist that holds the
recently added tracks.

I think Slimserver needs a quick and cheerful "Scan for new music" but
I wonder if there's some limitations to the way the iTunes database is
scanned as I'm sure it's not a simple as checking the date-stamp on
folders?

Interestingly, my work-around works. Stopping the server while a new CD
is ripped and then restarting it, makes the album available almost
immediately. If this is the case, what does the server do differently
when it restarts compared to what it does if you force a manual rescan?
A manual rescan on my library, for instance, takes 35-40 minutes. I
could've listened to the CD on my CD player in the meantime. :)
