If there is a smudge on the disk that makes it hard to read a track and the smudge extends the full width of the track, EAC can reread the same segment many many time, and then go on to the next. You could easily have a couple hundred readings of every part of a track. This often happens when the disk is full and tracks extend to the edges if a stray fingerprint extends over the data.
It's possible to drop down the level of paranoia and redundancy and you shouldn't have this problem a lot if your EAC is properly set up -- but the whole point is for the information you are encoding to be exactly what is on the disk, so a certain level of paranoia may be a good thing. -- BoMaGoSh Yndit ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BoMaGoSh Yndit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18693 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
