Hi,

My first squeezebox was just delivered today, and I'm getting ready to
begin ripping all of my CDs to flac files. I'm looking for a little
guidance on the best way to be tagging these files to get the best
performance from SlimServer / Squeezebox.

My primary concern is making good use of the ALBUMARTIST tag for
handling compilation albums, albums with contributors, etc.

Consider an album (chosen as an easy example, not as a great
demonstration of my taste) like Supernatural, by Santana. Most of the
tracks have some kind of extra contributor, like Dave Matthews, Rob
Thomas, etc. Would it be appropriate to tag these files like:

ALBUMARTIST=Santana
ARTIST=Santana
ARTIST=Dave Matthews

Is it necessary / advisable to have Santana listed both as an
ALBUMARTIST and ARTIST, or just one?

I would like these to show up in SlimServer -just- under Santana when
browsing by artist, not under Santana, Dave Matthews, Rob Thomas, etc
etc. Is there a combination of settings in SlimServer where this is
possible?

For a compilation album, say, the soundtrack to Garden State, I imagine
I wouldn't set an ALBUMARTIST at all, and would just set the ARTIST tag
on each track to e.g. The Shins, etc. Is this correct? I expect that
SlimServer will automatically file these under Various Artists, and
that will be the end of it.

For "normal" albums, should they be tagged with ALBUMARTIST and ARTIST
identical, just ARTIST, or just ALBUMARTIST?

Thanks for any help, guidance or suggestions that anyone can provide.
