Whats the problem with FLAC tags? I dont see how they are any more
complicated or harder to use than any other format. You may be able to
do more with them, than say MP3's IDv3 tags, but they work in much the
same way and the basics (Track name, artist etc) is just the same
really. A FLAC is a much better format to use with the
Squeezebox/Slimserver, and it supports gapless playback perfectly.

As for Cue sheets, it should be posible with Apple Lossless, but CUE
sheet support is currently broken with the lastest Slimsever, so dont
even bother. The best way to achieve gapless playback is to rip with a
format thats desgined for gapless playback with single files, i.e Ogg
or FLAC.

The problems with cue sheets in Slimserver are a major issue for me and
i have started a new bug report about it. Internal cue sheets dont seem
to work at all either. A real pain because i saw the 'CUE Sheet
support' in the product spec then ripped many CD's this way, only to
find out it does not work when i got my SB3 :(
Another thing i hope they do is make Cue sheets scannable. Even if you
use MP3 or FLAC etc, you still can fastforward tracks when using CUE
sheets with slimserver.
