Thanks Robin. I discovered a feature I didn't know about in mp3tag to see all the tags so now I see that for an AAC track that is a compilation the files all have the tag "Compilation" set to 1 (despite its name, Mp3tag also seems to work with FLAC and AAC files). I have few enough compilation albums that I don't mind going and hand-setting this tag on all my compilation tracks.
In looking at my FLAC files however, I still can't see any clue in the tagging as to what gets changed by setting the EAC "Various Artists" tick box when I do a rip. Could this be something that mp3tag won't display? Can anyone give me a hint here? Maybe setting this in EAC just tells it that the track names it gets from freedb might be of the format "<Artist> / <Title>" and tells EAC to try and parse such track info to create seperate artist and title tags. In this case then how does SlimServer detect compilations? Does it just do it based on any album that doesn't have the Artist tag set the same for all tracks? If the above is correct then I think I've worked out all the puzzles that were bothering me. - Julian -- JulianL ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JulianL's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1088 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19599 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
