As funkstar says, Browse Music Folder (deliberately) ignores tags and
just reads what's in the file name.  One good use of this feature is to
allow you to immediately get to something you've just ripped, without
having the trigger a rescan of the library.  It was also done this way
for speed, I believe.

One workaround - though it may be too late if you've already finished
ripping - is to include the track number in the file name, eg "01 -
some song name.flac"  This has the added advantage of giving the right
order when you are using something completely dumb like a file
browser.

I'm not sure that having multiple hard drives makes a difference -
you've presumeably used links to make it all look like one directory to
slimerver anyway.

But I do appreciate the additional classification you've introduced
under artist... right now the only thing you can do in slimserver is to
abuse the "genre" tag by putting extra values in it and then browsing
for them. I know this isn't very close to what you want!  There are
some enhancement requests to allow more flexible browsing, but no sign
of them being implemented yet.
