Interesting. I've tried one 8:18 Chemical Brothers track. Space savings is modest: 56 411 KB for the newer FLAC versus 56 892 KB for the original.
The bitrate is 926 kbps as opposed to 934 kbps. But given that it plays fine in my SB3 and that the HydrogenAudio thread indicates the CRCs are the same, I'll use it from now on. Every little bit counts, and while the small improvement is not worth the effort to re-rip everything I already have, I'll use it from now on or until there's an official new FLAC release.
