My guess is that the problem doesn't relate to scanning, but instead is some database/data manipulation problem. I say this because I, too, get weird behavior regarding # tracks, # albums, artist info and the like, but I'm not populating the db by scanning, I'm doing it programmatically from an external Access db (CATraxx). Every time I run my update program, which wipes the SlimDB and repopulates it, I get different stats, even if nothing has changed in my Access db.
