I'd been trying to avoid using ALBUMARTIST since, for MP3, it uses the band/orchestra (TPE2) tag - not really what it's meant for. I can understand why that's being used, though.
However, to get group discs working for MP3 VA albums one needs to use the iTunes TXXX compilation tag - so perhaps if one's using the non-standard TXXX tag, it's no big deal using the TPE2 tag in a non-standard way! I don't really mind if I use VA auto-detection or not. I'm quite happy to set the compilation flag manually for VA albums (so COMPILATION=1 for Vorbis and TXXX for MP3 [which is ITUNESCOMPILATION in MP3Tag not COMPILATION, it seems]). To this end, I tried turning off VA auto-detections with a wipe & rescan then set COMPILATION=1 for FLAC (and TXXX for MP3). This doesn't work for me - those COMPILATION=1 VA albums still list as albumname by artist1, artist2, etc. (and artist1, artist2 still appear in the browse artist list). I think COMPILATION=1 is being read OK since group discs works for the VA albums now. -- NigelMSB ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NigelMSB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22414 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
