I've been ripping CDs for years, including many "copy protected" ones. I've yet to find anything EAC won't rip with the default options.
Actually I did have one the other day that sat there for 5 hours ripping and in the end the files sounded awful. Turned out it really was a defective CD, I exchanged it and everything is fine now.
