Timothy

thanks very much for the reply, it's very helpful.

In the last few days I've been messing about with the files and seem to
have come to some sort of a solution.

Contrary to what I originally thought (isn't that always the case) the
problem seemed to be that REACT embedded the cuesheet as a vorbis tag
rather than into the cuesheet block of the metadata. I rectified this
using metaflac to embed the cuesheet and it seems to work fine without
an external cuesheet. No forward/rewind inside of tracks but I was
expecting that.

I'm still in the process of playing around with this and I know next to
nothing about artist and album sort but have you tried writing them in
as tags to the vorbis comment (metaflac makes this easy)? The
Slimdevices site does seem to suggest that this should work
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServerSupportedTags

If you get a moment and are inclined to send me something that would
test the behaviour you want I would be happy to give it a go since we
both seem to be heading in the same direction.

Similarly my ultimate intention is to write a ruby script that takes
care of this but I am still a very long way off from understanding how
all this works to make a decent stab at it yet.

Thanks again for your help.

Bob
