So it looks like this way, I could tell iTunes to not move "add to library" files to the main folder. I could keep the lossy files in the main iTunes music folder, and the lossy files in a separate folder which I add to iTunes. Slimserver sees only the lossy files, I can view only the lossy files in iTunes by creating a playlist, and feed my iPod by creating a separate playlist that has the lossy files. Could work! Also the filetype approach may work, i'll have to try that. Thanks to Jeff and funkstar. Any other approaches people have?
