I already back up to another hard disk (actually, to another multi-disk server). But that's far from foolproof. If my home gets broken into I would imagine they'd take all the computers, not just one. Likewise a fire, flood or some other disaster could easily take everything out. I could backup offsite but my upstream net connection really isn't fast enough, plus there are legal issues (you're starting to get into the realm of distribution). The easiest thing is to box up the CDs and put them somewhere safe.
