Thanks to everyone. I have been convinced that wav to flac then tag is the way to go. I am in the middle right now of doing that.
What is the sense in asking for advice if you do not take it. Next question, Is there a process that will take a flac file of encoded dts 6 channel and down mix / transcode it to a 2 channel mpg so I can play it on the "Whole House" audio system which is just 2 channel? It is just background music, so less fidelity is okay. I do not use Slimserver with the whole house audio system but rather a device called Audiotron which handles mpg files.
