If your debian system has - or can install - Serpentine this can be used to open a playlist (m3u) file. This then adds the tracks which the list references to the burn list. As long as the referenced tracks do not exceed the capacity of the blank CD you can then just hit 'Write To Disc' and it should produce a CD with your tracks on it. I think that single file cuesheets are not possible with Serpentine but it does let you burn your lists for use in the car with the minimum of fuss.
