I use MAREO in exactly the way you describe (actually I do three
conversions - FLAC, MP3 and AAC!). I don't have the latest version of
MAREO by quite a long way - having very carefully set up my ripping
process how I want it I see no reason to change - so can't give very
detailed advice but its not too hard, honest!

(1) you tell EAC that MAREO is your external compression program

(2) you set up the MAREO config file so that it does the conversions
you want. In the version I'm using, it was simply a case of
un-commenting the sections in the supplied sample for the conversions I
wanted, and adjusting a couple of details like the directories where I
wanted the files placed.
