Just upgraded to 6.5 release (without incident I might add) and have
decided to revisit a few old tagging issues that I had never previously
got to the bottom of.

1. I would like to utilise ArtistSort so that I can display Paul
McCartney & Wings under 'M' rather than 'P'. At the moment I get
around this by tagging it as Artist=McCartney, Paul & Wings. I do this
because I like to use the Band tag to also include Band=McCartney, Paul
which I also add to Beatles albums so that a search for McCartney will
throw up all McCartney solo + with Wings + Beatles albums.

On my test database, it works up to a point with ArtistSort but there
appears to be no option for a BandSort so adding Paul McCartney as a
Band on Beatles & Wings albums, and using ArtistSort with these albums
means they are listed correctly against Wings & Beatles but Paul
McCartney appears under 'P' as there is no way to specify the Band
field sort order......or am I missing something? If I add another
album which is which has Artist=Paul McCartney (exclusively) with an
Artistsort of McCartney,Paul then it seems OK.
This does there always has to be a solo album for this type of cross
reference tagging to work....unless anyone can suggest an alternative!

2. Use of Year tag. There is some odd behaviour with this. Under the
Browse options there is Year. When you do this it appears to show
albums by only a single year which is the year entered against the last
track on the album. So Legend by Lennon, shows up against 1969 (year of
last track on the LP). The other years relevant to other tracks on the
album are listed at the first level but when you drill down they do not
show any entries which is a curious result, only 1969 returns the album.

Surely it should appear in every year for which there is a track (or an
additional new tag is required for Album Release Year)

3. You can use the web advanced search by Year. Here when an album has
tracks each recorded in different years, it seems to happily find the
tracks OK so not consistant with the Browse results.
However, when combined with point 1. above, where Band tag is utilised
it throws up duplicates. e.g. say have Band tags on Beatles albums as
Band=Lennon,John;McCartney,Paul a search on year will throw up 3
duplicates of the same track (presumambly 1 for Beatles, 1 for Lennon &
1 for McCarney). These duplicates are sorted together so I presume it
would be easy enough to amend code to ignore duplicates....?

Has anyone else encountered these points? If so is there a solution /
settings I have missed / or simple workarounds?

Thanks, Neale
