The problem that caused me to start this thread seems to be more general - on my home desktop/music server several different ripping softwares have cause the computer to blue screen during ripping, I don't know why. So I'm ripping on my office laptop, which I take home most evening and weekends, and I'm back to using CDex, which is free and seems to do the biz. My music server seems stable as long as I don't use it for ripping.
