I have no choice but to use 1.1.4, I'm on Ubuntu. Although I can upgrade the encoder, certain supporting libraries which I'm not able to update cause problems decoding and testing.
And the Ubuntu community is rather slow updating flac, this one only came with Ubuntu 7.10 which was just released a few weeks ago. Ubuntu 7.04 came with 1.1.2 and stayed that way since its release last April. So I likely won't see 1.2.1 until April. Good thing Ubuntu operates with restricted user privileges, but I still won't be downloading any FLACs.
