Wow, I still have this bookmarked. An EXCELLENT write up. When I
started ripping lps back in 2000, I used this as a resource and it
helped me out a lot. I also use CoolEdit2000. What an awesome program
- too bad it got sucked into Adobe.

Anyway, use cliveb's guidelines as a starting point and you cannot go
wrong!

As a matter of process, what I used to do was batch each step. I would
spend a few days just recording sides and saving the wave files. I
would do that for about 10 lps. That's pretty mechanical but is time
consuming since it requires walking away and coming back every 20min.
or so. Since CE2K has a clip indicator, I'd rerecord if a clip
occured.

Then, I would sit down with all of my recorded sides and edit out the
needle drops and pickups and fade-in the starts of each side and
fade-out the ends of each side. Then I would split the wave file into
individual tracks.

I happened to use the audio clean up plugins. There were some cases
where it made things worse, but most of the time it was an improvement.
I archived the unprocessed files so I could always go back if so
desired.

Good luck. It can be tedious, but very satisfying and a lot of fun.
