My son loves his Squeezebox that I bought for him but he's complaining about the swings in volume when he plays random songs. All his music is MP3's. About 90% have album tags but the rest are just random songs. He'd prefer using the album setting in Replaygain but is worried that the random songs won't be processed and will be too loud in comparison.
How should we go about applying Replaygain in this scenario? I'm thinking: 1. Apply Replaygain to all his music using the track setting. 2. Re-apply Replaygain to all his music using the album setting. Whaddya think?
