I have decided to re rip my rather large CD collection for use with the
new duet for home audio. Currently, my collection is in itunes at
various mp3 (mostly), aac bit rates and the classical stuff in Apple
Lossless. I spent a considerable time tagging the albums with the
correct artwork (many times scanning my own for high resolution - I
have the ROKU HD Photobridge with the Endless' SlimRoku and wanted the
best. But I digress), rating, etc.

Anyway, by and large, I am looking to re archive my collection in the
highest quality/versatility for my home (i.e. Flac) with the on-the-go
ability to play on my ipod(s).

I've looked at several threads and it seems that one of the biggest
hassles is the tagging part. To avoid this I wondered if maybe I should
re rip my CD collection using Apple Lossless in iTunes. If I do this I
simply overwrite the files, retaining the tagging info, album art, etc.
I would then use something like dbpoweramp to convert the apple
lossless to flac in batch and use MediaMonkey to
organize,convert-on-the-fly to ipod etc. (deleting the apple lossless
upon completion).

After this long winded buildup, I was wondering:
- does the tag information migrate correctly (i.e. to be "read" by
SlimServer) in the conversion process?
- does rating info, number of time played migrate as well? to
Slimserver? to MediaMonkey?
- are there audio issues I should be concerned about?
- is there a better way?

Any constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
