Have downloaded genpuid and want to tag a few thousand tracks with PUID
values to improve my last.fm experience. MusicIP seem to have changed
their web site, and it is no longer clear how to get a "dns-key"
necessary to use genpuid. The README included with genpuid suggests
this is as simple as generating a key from their web site, similiar to
Flickr, Facebook, Google Maps, etc.
> Your MusicDNS key (used by the parameter [dns-key]) must be valid. Keys
> can be generated for free at: http://musicip.com/dns/key.jsp.
Appears that the new process involves emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED] to
request a key and confirm that this is a "non-commercial" use (they
will ask several times and want to be very sure). MusicIP also require
the return of a signed 23 page agreement (by postal mail) for
non-commercial use.
Is all this really necessary to assign PUID tags to a personal music
library? I just want to add a few lines to my metadata tagging script
so I can have PUID tags to my FLAC files...
- *MusicBrainz Picard* lacks a good command line interface to do the
same thing as genpuid (and wants to replace my existing metadata with
its own)
- It is not really clear what the *MusicIP mixer* does when it
"validates" tracks. This is exactly the sort of app behavior I don't
want in my music library or as part of my ongoing inclusion workflow
- Using Picard I can see that a significant portion of my collection
does not yet have PUID tags in MusicBrainz, and would be happy to
contribute release metadata
Any alternatives to genpuid and execution of a contract with MusicIP?
Must I allow MusicIP mixer to run wild in order to have PUID tags?
