Hi My first post here so apologises if this is in the wrong forum. I am using iTunes to rip my music as Apple Lossless. My itunes directory is on an external USB hard drive (m:\music) However, this hardrive is ony 100Gb and becoming full so I want to transfer the files to another bigger external hardrive and repoint itunes and squeezecenter to the new music directory on the K drive (K:\music).
To do this I was going to do the following. 1. Copy all from m:\music to K:\music 2. In itunes delete all entries (but do not let itunes remove the files from the hard drive) 3. Update itunes to point to the new directory on the K drive 4. Update Squeezcenter to the new directory on the K drive. 5. If all is ok delete the files from the M drive as they have now been transferred to the K drive. However, when I try this I run into a problem with Vista. During the copy process (1) Vista stops copying after a brief period and a pop up appears saying that the file I am trying to copy from in M:\music does not exist at that location? But when I physically navigate to that file its clearly there and I can still play that file in iTunes???? The upshot being that I can't move my files from my full hardrive to my bigger empty hard drive. I don't think its a hard drive hardware issue as I can copy other files OK to either hard drive - it's just my itunes library thats SNAFU! Any advice much appreciated.
