Hello, my first post in here after quite a while of pain installing squeezecenter 7.01 on my terastation. Finally I got everything working and I'm about to take care of my loudness problems.
Tagging with mp3gain is working good and my SB3 is throttling everything correctly. The only problem is - for me - a very ugly one. Switching gain correction on is messing up all vu meters. Some might say it is doing what is expected... showing the meters of the throttled 89db, but as they are pretty useless (only 2-4 bars) it is indeed a problem for me as I can't see anything on quieter parts of songs. I wouldn't even know that SB is playing something by looking on the meter. Obviously the meter is calculated after the replay gain. So now my questions... a) is there any way to change the settings on the meter for being more compatible with replay gain? b) I tried everything and every program I am aware of, but I didn't find a way. Is it possible to raise the relative +-db on the replay gain tag to a relative one of lets say 95db instead of 89db? This question is asked before, but i couldn't find a solution for that. And YES, this makes sense for me, as a relative difference to 95db instead of 89db is making my songs louder (still all of my songs would have a minus db tag as most of them are around 100db). So... I'm looking for a solution to use replay gain tags, but with a "higher" targed db to have all songs normalized by tags but with a proper meter viewing. I couldn't get solution b) working with mp3gain (you can raise the target db, but it is only writing the standard differences for 89db.. or I just didn't find out how to write the adjusted tags!?), also foobar is using the replay gain standard.. there seem to be a foo_pod plugin, with it you can raise the target db, BUT it is only working with an ipod... I would really appreciate any help, as this is the last nut to crack for me before having everything up and running perfectly. Thank you!!
