I'm not a fan of Naim (although I do still have a Naim preamp used for
LP transfers), but have to admit that sometimes they talk sense.

The way I read this paper, they fully acknowledge that it's possible to
set up a PC based ripping system that performs well. They just point out
that it requires knowledge and care, and that their ripping engine
packages it all up so the user doesn't need to worry about it. That
strikes me as a very sensible approach, and it's one that Logitech
should consider if they ever decide to build a "SqueezeCenter hardware
appliance".
