Is this because of Linux? All mine are UTF-16 and I don't have that problem. As long as it works for you all is well. The only reason I stayed away from 2.4 tags was that some devices have problems with them. Not as well supported. Just save your tags to 2.4 before you delete the 2.3 tags in mp3tag and you'll save your musicip tags.
