You get free updates within a major version. Once the major version number is bumped (presumably because of major feature additions) you have to pay. I think the fee to upgrade though is less than purchasing again. The cost is reasonable IMHO.
I tried it out and didn't find it compelling enough to take me away from EAC and my process. It is a great program though. I can see where it can save time. So, if your time is at a premium, it might be worth purchasing for the time savings. This is especially if you are starting out. I recall investing a lot of time in researching a set of tools to rip/encode/tag in such a way that both iTunes and SC are happy. It wasn't easy. But the kids today can just jump into dbpoweramp and get everything in one tool. "Yeah sonny, well I remember a day when I transcoded my files by hand, one bit at a time, and I was happy to do it!!" :-) Like you Mr. Sinatra, I am happy with my process and it works for me. Trying to get a new tool to fit in causes me stress. There are always corner cases, of which I found one with dbpoweramp a week after trying it out. It has resulted in my reporting a bug against the controller: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9461 What harm can composer tags cause? Well, I found out that there is. Yes, I can tell dbpa not to use them, but I don't want to keep going to see what other corner case I'm going to run into. -- maggior Rich --------- Setup: 2 SB3s, 1 duet, 1 receiver.
