my advice:

if space isn't a problem, go flac.  wav's can have very limited tags
(which i only found out recently via audacity) but are pretty useless.

i'm not sure what tagging standards flac use, i'm sure someone here can
clarify that.  but more importantly, flac is very robust as a file
format, as well as flexible and lossless.

you'll also probably be interested in applying replaygain values to the
tags.
