A bit of an off-topic post but knowing how helpful and friendly the
people on this forum are I didn't think anyone would mind me asking...
:-)

As part of my job I need to learn more about manipulating video - as
opposed to audio - formats. My specific aims are to help create video
files that can be watched within the company (on PCs via Windows Media
Player, and in the handheld device we provide, i.e. iPhones and
BlackBerry Bold/Storm) and also externally (in browsers via our
website).

To get further into the details, I think I need to convert high-quality
MOV files (which are the likely source) to MPEG-4 (H.264), WMV (WVC1),
and FLV formats. And so I'm looking for a set set of tools that will
allow me to do that conversion (and tagging). I'm thinking I need
counterparts to the world of EAC, FLAC/LAME, MP3Tag, etc.

One tricky area may be finding tools that support the "latest" codecs.
For example I've come across a command-line utility called ffmpeg (and
apps that act as front-ends to ffmpeg and other command-line tools) but
I don't believe that ffmpeg can encode with the WVC1 codec...

Any thoughts/ideas would be very much appreciated!
