In general, I've had no problem with album art. I sometimes just add
the art as folder.jpg to the folder with the track files, sometimes use
one of the tag editors, but most often use WMP to add art ("paste album
art"). This adds the several size variants that WMP uses to the folder
with the track files, and these are visible to SC and the Controller
once the "scan for new music" option is run (doesn't seem to need the
clear library option).

However.

>From time to time I get a situation where the album art is definitely
in the right folder, it is displayed in SC on the computer, but it just
will not be picked up for display on the controller. No matter what I
do. Very odd, but I haven't found a fix. There reamin two or three
albums in this condition (out of hundreds).

BTW, I do recommend dbPoweramp as a ripper, which reliably and
accurately picks up album art for even the most obscure titles during
the rip process, and seems to rip very accurately. It does have a
function that compares the rip statistics to those generated for other
rips for the same titles, and sometimes will report an inaccurate rip
-- re-ripping will often solve the problem. Unfortunately, a
significant proportion of my titles are not in the database, but I was
happy to contribute data <g>. The batch converter from the same suite
also does well, but not AS well, at picking up album art. The batch
converter itself is a great product, very fast -- in the paid-for
version it uses both processor cores independently so you get twice as
fast a result. It can also be configured to rip once and store twice
in different formats -- for instance, in a lossless format for use via
SC, and in a lossy format for use on a portable device. The two formats
can be saved in separate folders, with naming and folder structures
almost infinitely configurable. Worth every penny.
