I've had a quick search around and couldn't find anything. I think I have a similar setup to a lot of people with my workflow:
- a master folder of music on a server consisting of flac and mp3s - using flac2mp3 and rsync to duplicate this folder as all mp3s for use with my iPod Touch Any modified tags (e.g. with foobar and mp3tag) will thus be propagated from the master folder to the duplicate folder. I obviously don't want anything messing with my mp3 folder as this will initiate an unneeded round of file copying/transcoding. I currently use MusicMonkey to sync with my Touch as I know it won't mess with my tags, but as I have to have iTunes installed anyway, I would prefer to use that to manage my music, so long as it doesn't alter my files in anyway. Can iTunes be set up so it doesn't alter/add tags? Are there any other issues I haven't thought about? Also, I realise I could keep changing the permissions on the files but I'd prefer not to do this.
