I have just noticed this yesterday using 7.3.3 after doing a complete clear and rescan. It also happens in the playlist when I play a whole album one track could show a different album art from the others. Since in my case the albums are in their own folder with folder.jpg as the art and not within the tags, I don't know why that would happen.
Not sure this is the correct forum though, since I don't think it's related to the tagging, it must be a quirk with the current SqueezeCenter scanner.
