I suggest you use SqueezeCenter's web interface to tune the settings to your requirements, including the location of the Music folder.
Fire up your browser and point it to http://nas:9001 where 'nas' is the IP address of your QNAP. [Note: the standard port used for the web interface is 9000 - however, this conflicts with one of the other in-built applications on the QNAP, so generally port 9001 is used instead] Click on the Settings button (bottom right on the default interface). The second field on the Basic Settings tab is the one to change. See below for what mine looks like - I use a Music folder in the default Qmultimedia volume. [Aside: under Music I have subfolders for Classical, Playlists, and Popular] You say you have the QNAP TS-209. I do hope you will be happy with this. I have a TS-209 Pro with 2 x 500 Gbyte disks in RAID1 configuration. I have a fairly extensive music collection and have now loaded some 1,100 albums totalling just under 21,000 tracks (mostly FLAC, some residual MP3s). While the TS-209 seems fine for storing and running SC for playing the music, it is clearly not a general purpose computer. It's a very slow device when it comes to anything requiring any cpu power - this is very noticeable when running SC's web interface (but that is probably an SC design issue) and even more noticeable when (re)scanning the music data into the SC database. See below for the details from my last full scan - it took 7 hours 47 minutes !! I like the QNAP - it has loads of functionality and appears well designed. But this particular model is seriously short on engine power. I'm in the market not only for bigger discs, but also for a new and faster NAS... Hope this helps +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: scan speed.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7415| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- rperkin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rperkin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15079 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63287 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
