Yes, it's a lot slower when you encode in both a lossless and lossy format. Ripping is relatively fast, particularly with dbpoweramp and AuccurateRip. Encoding in FLAC is very fast, usually faster than ripping the track. Encoding in a lossy format like MP3, by comparison, generally takes longer than the first two combined. So if you add MP3 encoding to your ripping ritual, it becomes much slower process.
