I now have an iPhone and am trying to maintain two libraries: one in FLAC originals for my Squeezebox and a shadow copy of MP3s.
I have been using a nightly script on my Windows Home Server which launches flac2mp3 to compare the two libraries and, if needed, convert some files to MP3 following some additions to the library. I have only just noticed that flac2mp3 seems to remove cover art embedded in the mp3s, as well as deleting the ReplayGain and iTunes Soundcheck tags. All the FLACs contain these tags, I have put them in by hand into the MP3s too, using Foobar2000 and mp3tag. Unfortunately, they keep disappearing on some (although not quite all files). Any ideas on how to stop this badness?
