I have just moved my main machine over to Linux (Ubuntu); it is a bit of a learning experience for me, but certainly a good tagger is essential for me - I have become quite the MP3Tag whizz. While the machine is dual boot, I'd rather keep to Linux as far as possible. So for a Linux novice, the install was kinda OK. It didn't initially appear in the Applications menu, but now that's OK. I always seem to find that installing things in Linux is a bit more complicated than running Setup.exe, but that's me and Linux rather than Puddletag. I have only tried it a couple of times, and will do so more and provide feedback. Some early comments: - I like the flexibility for adding custom tags both to the columns and to the Tag Panel easily - In Actions - Format Value (OK, Functions), MP3Tag had the option to choose the Tag you are operating on in the window; here you rely on the tag being selected when you choose the menu item. I would prefer a hybrid, whereby it told you what it was operating on, but defaulted to the tag that you had selected. - Like MP3Tag you have a list of Genres that can be used to populate the Genre tag field, but I would like the facility to add a list to *any* tag, so my custom tags can have a drop-down of allowable entries. That would be cool.
