I am happily listening to my music collection, served up by SlimServer
on Ubuntu 10.04 to Slim Classic(2), Boom(2) and a Receiver w/
Controller.
My music is about 50/50 mix of flac rips and mp3, tagged with flac and
ID3v2.4 tags respectively.
Music is organized in ARTIST/YEAR - ALBUM/TRACK# - TITLE folder
structure.
Each song is tagged with and nothing else:
ALBUM
ARTIST
DISCNUMBER
GENRE
TITLE
TRACK
YEAR

To increase the acceptance of the technology within my family, I tried
to keep things very simple and consistent across the different devices
and control UIs.
Thus each device menu had:
+ Now Playing
+ My Music
- - Artist
- - Album
- - Genre
- - Year
- - Search Music
+ My Radio
- - Internet Radio streams from OPML
+ Settings

What I would like to achieve is to simply order the albums from the
same artist by year, consistently between all devices and web browser
when browsed by artist, however, keep the alphabetical order if browsed
by albums.
The AlbumView options affect both, so that does not help me.
I am aware of the AlbumSort, ArtistSort, AlbumArtistSort and few other
sort tags, but have not tagged a file in years, and from a quick glance
I cannot wrap my head around how to use these.
I have been using SS 7.3.4 and recently updated to 7.5.1
Can you please help me to achieve this?
Thanks, Lleo_
