EAC does artwork fetching, but I still prefer to choose my own artwork from
other sources, to choose the best quality. In fact, I still find it faster to
search the web for artwork, rather than do it at rip time.

i.e. I kick a rip off, and whilst it's taking a minute to do the rip, I can be
looking for artwork.

I use various sites for high-quality covers, such as Album Art Exchange,
Album-Cover-rt.org. I have these set up as additional search engines in
Firefox, so it is easy to enter the artist/album title, and drag the resulting
high-quality image into the rip folder.

It may not be automated, but I find the results to be better, and actually
quicker than delaying the rip.
