ALBUMARTIST takes precedence over ARTIST when browsing albums. As far as I know, there's no way to suppress it from the artist listing. You can sometimes fiddle with using ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST to get things listed in a certain way, but using ALBUMARTIST for a performer doesn't sound like a good idea.
