Thanks for the input. With regards to your tagging suggestions I've followed that kind detailed advice already when I started on my obsessive tagging mission. Its consumed a lot of my life much to the disquiet of the good wife, so I'm happy that the tags are good. As for your TPPE2 question, you know its a good question. The default was to treat the tag as band and I never had a reason to change it, as the DJ multi disc sets were displayed as I wanted (apart from the few that are causing me the issue that prompted this thread). What are the consequences with this change? I have just changed the setting (which prompted a full clear and rescan) and I have noticed a couple of immediate changes. Firstly and most excitingly where certain mutli disc sets were split they no longer are. When I view the album in the web UI Album Artist and Track Artist are displayed. The albums are no longer declared as compilation by Squeezebox Server and therfore no longer appear as compilations (this feels like a much better way to display them to me). I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if there are any unwanted consequences of this change.
