My tip, which seems trivial compared to the expert suggestions in the preceding posts:
There's a lot of info that CAN be put into tags. Do you want it all? Want just some but not all? Do some albums each of a few different ways, see what information you want or don't want. Save time by not tracking down information that you ultimately won't find useful. I take a minimalist approach. Beyond what I see as basic name, rank and serial number (Album, artist, track name and number, genre), the rest doesn't matter to me.
