Yes that column change does work. Here is another album I ripped tonight using Rubyripper with the only tag change through Puddletag (added comment and changed genre which was blank). The first 3 songs display incorrectly by file name and the next 33 (double CD album) display correctly. I did not touch the disc with Tagscanner. Have to say I am pretty fed up. The Tag Type column you suggested displays "VorbisComment" on all tracks no indication of ID 3 or APE.
I apologize if I seem pissed off.
