Looking at my library the other day I found an album that did not show
where I thought it should, but under various Artists. I could not figure
it out until this morning when I loaded it into MP3Tag and selected
Extended Tags. There was the compilation field. One track had
compilation 1. The other thing I found was that were seven other fields
populated which I would never use.

I then loaded approx. 1/2 of my library into Mp3Tag and found about 30
albums where one or more tracks were missing Replaygain tags so I will
fix those. The more interesting thing is that when I selected Extended
Tags the qty of fields was approx. 80 in Number ! It appears that I
should check the extended tags as a matter of routine when editing tags
for new music. A lot of my music is from live shows downloaded over the
web. My plan is to delete those fields that do not show in the std view
as I do not use them. Hopefully this will impact scanning time.

Does anyone feel that this would be the wrong approach and if so why ?

Thanks for your input
