So when you say composer, and you say you're not talking classical, you mean the originator(s) of the music, e.g. Lennon and McCartney?
In the case of Discogs, that would come from the track credits in the "Written-By" value. In the case of MusicBrainz, check the "Work" via "Recording" which is linked from each track in each release. This is the kind of data which is less commonly recorded, especially, proportionally, for non-classical releases.
