*When:* Thursday, January 14 from noon - 1pm *Where:* 200C Warren Hall, 2195 Hearst St (see building access instructions on parent page <https://wikihub.berkeley.edu/display/istrit/Research+IT+Reading+Group>). *Event format:* The reading group is a brown bag lunch (bring your own) with a short <20 min talk followed by ~40 min group discussion. *Presenter:* Eric Kansa, Open Context *Facilitator: *Chris Hoffman, Research IT Eric Kansa of the Open Context project will share recent developments in data publication in Open Context <http://opencontext.org/>, a platform used to publish and archive research data and digital documentation with an emphasis on archaeological data. What kinds of research are enabled when data from different projects are brought together? What issues and challenges emerge for research data management and for new scholarship in general? Eric will talk about the example from Classical Archaeology and North American Archeology (with Michael Black from the Phoebe A.
